BBC News - Exbourne community shop moves underground http://bbc.in/MRMtQA It's now open so visit http://www.theundergroundshop.co.uk The newly revised website for The Underground Shop THE BURROW has now been launched hot on the heels of the official opening of the community shop at Exbourne, Devon. The site aims to keep people up to date with this exciting local project which is literally ground breaking. Visit the site to see what is happening in the shop and the café. The site will also keep you up to date with local news. http://www.theundergroundshop.co.uk/ Central Devon Member of Parliament Mel Stride will open The Underground Shop known as the The Burrow formally at 11.30 a.m. on Friday, 6th July. The community shop is at Exbourne and represents over 10 years of fundraising and planning following the closure of the village's only shop 10 years ago.
There will be jazz, free tastings of the local food on sale in the Burrow, food and drink and lots of photographs and fun! Watch out for further details in the media. |
AuthorIn December 2001 the village shop and post office in Exbourne with Jacobstowe in rural West Devon closed. This meant that villagers would have to make a journey of at least 5 miles each way to reach the nearest town for shops and services. Now after 10 years of hard work and fund raising the village has its own shop and cafe and its underground. Archives
