The chosen book is: The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce.

What we thought..........many members of the group really liked this book. Gloria said that it was to find books like this that she had joined the Book Club. Some found Harold's pilgrimage inspiring while a few thought it was overly sentimental and the writing style irritating. Most people thought that the episode where Harold was suddenly joined by a huge group of pilgrims in Chapter 22 was silly and spoiled the rhythm. Overall, a popular choice for the Book Club.

This is Jackie's choice so hope you are lovin' the book. Also hope that Jackie will be bringing along some delicious Devon delicacies for our next session?

Sorry you didn't like my authentic Southern cornbread which we ate at the last book group.

In December 2001 the village shop and post office in Exbourne with Jacobstowe in rural West Devon closed. This meant that villagers would have to make a journey of at least 5 miles each way to reach the nearest town for shops and services. Now after 10 years of hard work and fund raising the village has its own shop and cafe and its underground.
